Does your bathroom need a facelift? If you've had the same floral wallpaper on the walls for the past twenty years, or find yourself paying an astronomical water bill every month, the answer is probably yes. In fact, many of the To the Rescue requests we receive relate to bathrooms. This morning, George stopped by The Today Show to do a virtual rescue of sorts...sharing tips on how you can make minor changes to your bathroom that add up to a whole new room.

Tip 1: Add space to your bathtub by adding a curved shower rod.

Why: You could use a little more elbow room in the shower, but a major remodeling project isn't in your budget.

The Fix: A curved rod can add up to seven and a half additional inches of showering space.

Tip 2: Upgrade your cabinets and vanity by changing knobs and handles.

Why: That old robe hook has been with you since your post-college days and you need to brighten up your bathroom's drab facade with a quick and easy fix.

The Fix: Embellished hooks and knobs will upgrade otherwise typical cabinets and vanities -- they're like jewelry for your bathroom...and all you need is a screwdriver.

Tip 3: Change or Add a Towel Rod

Why: Your current system -- throwing a towel around a door knob or that hook 10 feet away -- isn't conducive to a mold-free (or convenient) environment.

The Fix: The change is both cosmetic and practical -- a sleek towel rod will add a design component, in addition to being convenient for your family and guests. A heated towel rod is even more luxe.

Tip 4: Save water by changing your shower head to an energy efficient model.

Why: You're tired of your monthly water bill freakout and are anxious to try that "going green" thing all the kids are talking about.

The Fix: The right showerhead can conserve the amount of water dispensed per minute, saving you up to 30% of water consumption.

Tip 5: Know when to call in a contractor.

Call in a contractor for anything relating to plumbing, electric and tiling.  This includes changing lights, faucets, and retiling your floors. Attempting a job you're not trained to do isn't cost-effective -- repairs will end up costing you later.
